Laravel, PHP 8.6, Nuxt, Inertia and Flutter: The Development News Worth Knowing This Autumn
A new PHP release is weeks away, Nuxt 4.6 previews Nuxt 5, Flutter 3.47 reshapes its design packages and several support windows have just closed. A practical update for owners of web and mobile products.

Most business owners do not follow framework release notes, and they should not have to. But the tools your product is built on have support windows, and when those close, security fixes stop. This roundup covers the verified releases and deadlines of recent months across the stack we use most at Vega SDS: Laravel and PHP on the server, Inertia.js with Vue and Nuxt on the web, and Flutter for mobile.
Laravel: version 12 leaves active support
Laravel 13 has been the current major version since 17 March 2026. It requires PHP 8.3 or newer and added a first-party Laravel AI SDK, which gives one API for text generation, tool-calling agents, embeddings, audio and images. It also introduced JSON:API resources, native vector similarity search with PostgreSQL and pgvector, formalised request-forgery protection and wider use of PHP attributes. Laravel says most applications can upgrade without changing much code.
The date to note is 13 August 2026, when bug-fix support for Laravel 12 ended. Security fixes continue until 24 February 2027. Laravel 11 has already passed its security end date of 12 March 2026. Laravel 13 receives bug fixes until the third quarter of 2027 and security fixes until 17 March 2028, and Laravel News expects Laravel 14 in the first quarter of 2027.
PHP 8.6: general availability on 19 November
PHP 8.6 is in its final release-candidate phase. The official PHP wiki schedule lists RC5 on 5 November and general availability on 19 November 2026. Its headline language feature is partial function application, which the PHP Foundation announced as approved in December 2025. It lets developers create a new function from an existing one by leaving some arguments as placeholders, and complements the pipe operator introduced in PHP 8.5.
As usual, it is wise to wait for your framework and key packages to confirm support before upgrading production systems. Laravel 13 currently lists PHP 8.3 to 8.5 as supported.
Inertia.js v3: the v2 bug-fix window has closed
Inertia.js v3 was released on 26 March 2026. It ships a built-in HTTP client that removes Axios as a required dependency, a new useHttp hook for requests that do not change the page, and optimistic updates that apply changes instantly and roll them back if the server returns an error. It is a breaking release, with ESM-only output and renamed APIs, so it needs a planned upgrade.
Under Inertia's support policy, v2 stopped receiving bug fixes on 26 September 2026, and its security fixes end on 26 March 2027. Applications still on v2 should schedule the move.
Nuxt 4.6 and the road to Nuxt 5
Nuxt 3 reached end of life on 31 July 2026, so any Nuxt 3 site is now running without official fixes. Nuxt 4.5 arrived on 18 July, followed by Nuxt 4.6 on 5 October. Version 4.6 brings a faster, smaller CLI, a portable server import surface, built-in sealed-cookie sessions, a rebuilt typed fetch, clearer development errors and performance improvements.
It also previews Nuxt 5. Setting the compatibility version to 5 turns on Nuxt 5 defaults today, and the team says code written against the new server layer will run unchanged when Nuxt 5 moves to Nitro v3 and h3 v2. Nuxt 4.6 can also enable Vue's new Vapor Mode for individual components; it requires Vue 3.6 release candidates, so treat it as experimental. On 28 October, the team announced Nuxt DevTools v4, which Nuxt 4.5 and later users can add as a module.
Flutter 3.47 and Genkit Dart 1.0
Flutter 3.47 was released on 12 August 2026. The material_ui and cupertino_ui packages reached version 1.0 on pub.dev as opt-in, standalone design packages, part of decoupling design systems from the core SDK, with a dart fix migration available. Impeller is now the default renderer on macOS, Windows and Linux, Widget Previews became stable, and minimum targets rise to iOS 15 and macOS 12 for Xcode 27. The documentation also flags a security patch: Flutter 3.47.8 blocks compromised eMudhra certificate authority keys.
On 8 October, the Flutter team announced Genkit Dart 1.0, the first stable release of Google's open-source framework for building AI features and agents in Dart and Flutter. It offers a single API for Gemini, Claude, OpenAI and compatible models, typed flows that can be deployed as endpoints, tools that pause for user confirmation, and OpenTelemetry-based monitoring. For Flutter teams, it is a practical way to add AI without tying the app to one provider.
What this means for your business
- Audit your versions. Applications on Nuxt 3, Laravel 11 or older, or Inertia v2 are outside or near the end of their support windows.
- Plan upgrades, do not rush them. PHP 8.6 and Nuxt 5 are worth adopting once your dependencies are ready, not on launch day.
- Budget for maintenance. Framework upgrades are a normal running cost of software, much like servicing equipment.
- Use the new AI building blocks. Laravel's AI SDK and Genkit Dart make provider-agnostic AI features easier to build into existing products.
- Check mobile build targets. Raising minimum iOS versions can exclude a small share of older devices, so confirm against your analytics.
